Dec 2025 Delicious and very reasonably priced. 31/8/25 The aubergine is super yummy, spicy. 26/6/25 RM8 fried chicken (tasty but mostly bone) Banana leaf RM9 - a few choice of vege, potato chunks, fish/chicken/dhall curry, pappadum 5/6/25 @ 3pm? Not crowded, perfect time. Delicious dhall and chicken curry. Colourful beetroot, spicy bitter gourd, cabbage, lentils. Poppadum nice and crunchy. interesting textures, lovely ! Banana leaf rice set was already perfect on its own. RM9. Chicken varuval RM8, strong tasting, perhaps better with a roti. Was mostly chicken neck and bones. Next time, will order freshly fried chicken or fish to accompany the banana leaf rice. 1/4/25 Came back and had a good experience! Sat inside the darkish air con room, clothes smelled of oil later but had a comfortable lunch in the crazy hot afternoon. Banana leaf rice RM9, this time around no issues. Spicy curried bitter gourd, a potato dhall spinach and stir fried cabbage. Poppadum crunchy, freshly fried like the delicious Ikan bulus at RM5 each, fresh, light and crispy. Total bill about RM35 for 2, very filling. On the way out, stopped to get the rose pink coconut candy at RM3 for 4 sweet pieces. Not too dry, very nice. Will continue to come early in the day. (7 months back) Just sharing some constructive feedback so your business can continue to improve. The last recent visit was sadly disappointing. Wanted to confirm the current pricing for banana leaf rice so asked the staff who attended our table. He quoted us a wrong lower pricing which we only discovered later was the price for a vegetarian set but the set served, came with a chicken dish so of course the price is higher. There is definitely a communication breakdown as he doesn't seem to understand Malay or English so we just accepted it, didn't complain. The chicken was mainly bones, one veg dish was no longer fresh and tasted off. When asked for a refill of rice and veg, to my surprise, he shook his head, then disappeared to the back of the shop.I needed to stand up and walk up to other staff to ask whether the rice is indeed refillable....or is it suddenly not? The younger staff is much nicer and proceeds to ladle rice and a potato dish unto the banana leaf, (which wasn't even offered by the first man). We were still eating, and they started sweeping the floor next to us. Never felt so unwelcome before. Sad cos many members of my family have been eating here all these years.

Reading reviews about diluted curry got me worried but they probably heard, because what I got was wholesome and my curry campur came together packed with flavor. Pros: Generous vege/chilli/pappadums when I ask for more, delicious meal, crispy pappadums, good enough that I didn't need a refill this time. Just knew now that Tenggiri is good (from reviews) will try next time but would still prefer fried chicken. Vege that I had include stir fried greens + spring onion, it's good and unique. Cons: Broken pappadums bits given (salty), No fresh fried chicken available (3pm) - ask for fried chicken breast, then fried chicken thigh - said he will check but came back with a plate of fried pieces of chicken (not hot or fresh fried).

Forget the plate—the best meal is served right on a fresh banana leaf here! The Vibe: The incredible aroma of rich curries and fresh spices hits you the moment you walk in. The Flavor: A perfect symphony of spicy chicken or fish curry, tangy pickles, crunchy papadum, and savory vegetable side dishes—all meant to be mixed and eaten with your hands! The Must-Haves: Don't forget to add a side of crispy fried chicken. It's not just a meal, it's a vibrant, hands-on, unforgettable culinary adventure. Go try it!

Tried this restaurant for the first time and was genuinely surprised by how good the food is. Despite having little hype or social-media presence, the quality is outstanding. The fried fish and chicken were incredibly fresh and juicy, the curries were rich and flavourful, and every dish tasted far better than many popular banana leaf places out there. They also have an air-conditioned dining area and a private room suitable for small events. A true hidden gem — definitely worth a visit.

Best banana leaf restaurant in Subang. Food is always great. Hot and fresh fried items always available. The chicken and fish selections are good - well marinated and tasty. There’s a variety of cooked dishes to select from too. All are just as delicious. Vegetarian options are plentiful. We highly recommend 1. Banana leaf set - all vegetables served are authentic South Indian and tasty 2. Fried chicken 3. Fried fish 4. Mutton varuval 5. Petai sambal 6. Prawn sambal 7. Tani sar 8. Dhall curry 9. Rasam 10. Drumstick & black eyed pea curry Don’t forget to ask for papadam and fried salted chilli

I am Chinese and vegetarian, and I have loved this restaurant for many years, even before the pandemic. After they refurbished and reopened, I continued coming back regularly—about 2–3 times a month. What I really appreciate is their vegetarian selection, which focuses mostly on fresh vegetables rather than mock meat. My absolute favourite dish is the fried bitter gourd—it’s always so good and never disappoints. I’ve read some 1-star reviews complaining about food, service, and pricing, but I’d like to share my own perspective and explain why I still keep coming back, even though staff may not always serve food directly at the table. There’s no doubt that the restaurant can get very crowded during lunchtime. Parking can be difficult, there may be a wait to get seated, and service can be limited. However, I personally feel the food is worth the wait. I’m used to self-service, similar to mixed-rice restaurants—getting my own plate, rice, vegetables, dhal, and fried chilli. I don’t see this as a problem during peak hours; in fact, it often saves time. Because of this, I’ve never had any unpleasant experiences here. I also really love their teh tarik. The tea aroma is great, and the balance of milk and sweetness is just right. I truly appreciate that they allow me to order a “kecil” (half glass), since I can’t finish a full one—and they even charge a lower price for it. Sometimes I come after 2pm for a late lunch. Yes, there are fewer dishes available by then, but they usually still have one or two freshly cooked dishes. I think this is fair and sensible—preparing food according to crowd level helps avoid waste and is better for the environment. The restaurant offers both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned seating. Even when dining in the non-AC area at noon, I don’t find it stuffy, smelly, or uncomfortably hot. So far, I’ve had no bad service experiences. The front staff (who may be the owners, though they’re not in uniform) may not always smile, but they’re never rude. They often walk around checking on the dishes, helping with orders, and asking about food quality. Overall, I’m very satisfied. One thing to note: during peak lunch hours, the restaurant is very crowded, and priority should be given to customers who are there to eat—not to hold meetings or long discussions. For that purpose, places like Starbucks may be more suitable. A little consideration goes a long way. My usual lunch—rice with beetroot, stir-fried okra, fried bitter gourd and young banana, plus a small teh tarik—costs only RM9.50. I find this price very fair and reasonable. HIGHLY Recommended!!

Freshly made roti canai. Out son loved it! The gravy are tasty too!

The curry here is savoury and delicious. I like their mutton varuval. The gravy is the dry type and spicy. I’m glad that they maintain the spiciness of varuval. Fried ikan tenggiri is so fresh and tasty. The texture of meat has the right firmness. I was told that big boss goes to market in the morning to source fish. Staff is adequate here, always ready to serve. Owners are very welcoming and courteous. The interior of restaurant is clean, spacious and air conditioned.
